Listed below are the range of services REI Services carry out:

  • Periodic Inspection Reports

Our inspection & testing division engineers have a wealth of experience providing periodic inspection reports of industrial & commercial buildings. All reports are sent from site to our office where they are transferred to NICEIC Certification software and then checked over by our NICEIC qualifying supervisor before being signed off as "Satisfactory" or "Unsatisfactory". If an unsatisfactory report is issued, it will also come with a no obligation quote by REI Services for rectification of defects & supply of satisfactory report.

  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)

PAT testing or portable appliance testing is an important part of any health & safety policy. The below is intended as a guide to both the legal implications and to the technical requirements.

The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.

The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places such an obligation in the following circumstance:

    • Where the appliances are used by employees.
    • Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
    • Where appliances are supplied or hired.
    • Where appliances are repaired or serviced
  • Thermal Imaging Non Contact Testing

Possibly the best form of reducing the risk of electrical fires with commercial & industrial installations due to the camera being able to highlight potential problems from build up of heat. A distinct advantage of this non-contact technique is that surveys are carried out under normal working conditions which does not cause the customer any inconvenience to the day to day running of the business.

Thermal Imaging can pinpoint any potential problems in cables, distribution boards, tranformers motors switchgear, plant rooms starters and other related items:

    • Overloads
    • Loose Electrical Connections
    • Faulty Components & hazardous cable groupings

are just some of the faults which thermal testing can locate.

  • Emergency Lighting and Fire Alarm Testing/Service

Full NICEIC Servicing Reports carried out for emergency lighting and fire alarm servicing which is all recorded on log books kept on site for inspection by authorised persons.

  • Structured Cabling Network Testing

Network cabling CAT5e and CAT6 inspection and testing with electronic certification to client.

  • Energy Analysing (Logging)

REI Services hold two Fluke 1735 Power Logger energy analyser sets for logging of electrical supplies. This equipment will measure consumption, power factor, peaks and maximum demand over an agreed period with client. This information is then downloaded to a PC, with a detailed report printed out. We use this equipment to verify electricity supply companies metering equipment and also on behalf of consultants and clients to determine energy savings viable within an electrical installation.
